The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow

An antiquarian Thomasina Bateman is writing a book on the barrows of England that documents the treasures she uncovers in. A fascinating letter prompts her to go to the small village of Bewlay in England’s remote countryside. She travels there by train with her assistant that same day.
At the time of her arrival the man mysteriously summoned her is nowhere to be seen. Her assistant never arrives. An uncompromising landowner denies access to the barrow and even the residents are wary of the lady who is walking on her own as well (gasp!) wears trousers.
